THE ARTILLERY COMPANY OF NEWPORT'S ARMORY RECENTLY RECEIVED A FACELIFT!

The front of the armory of the Artillery Company of Newport is undergoing restoration thanks to a grant from the Alletta Morris McBean Charitable Trust and donations from visitors to the military museum. The armory, located at 23 Clarke Street in Newport, was constructed in 1836 to house the Artillery Company and is one of the few 19th century structures still in use as an armory. E. F. O'Donnell & Sons Co. Inc. of Providence, Rhode Island, restoration and painting contractor expects to have the project completed by August 1, 2005.
